On My Honeymoon by Evan Grace
We reach my bungalow and the bellhop carries my luggage into the bedroom and then quickly shows me around and telling me where everything is. I hand him a tip and then shut the door behind him.

I kick off my shoes and then walk around the space, I’m in awe at the pure beauty of this place. There are a set of double doors in the bedroom that when I push them open I gasp. The view is breathtaking. It’s blue as far as the eye can see. I move to the end of the deck, a light breezes blows the loose strands of my hair all around me.

I walk to the stairs that lead right into the water, and sit down on the top step. I tilt my head back, and close my eyes, letting the sun beat down on me. When I stand up I find my neighbor standing on his deck as well. It’s the man from the plane. He’s wearing a white linen shirt, khaki shorts and he’s barefoot.

I hurry inside before he catches me gawking at him. For my first night I decide to just stay in, and relax. When I finally slip into the huge tub I sigh because it’s heavenly. While I soak I begin to analyze my relationship with Alex. It wasn’t perfect, but I thought we were happy.

While on the run, mob enforcer, Earl Pirelli meets an angel. At least he thought he had until learning the truth about Daisy. She’s the daughter of his rival, sent to track him down. Will she lead him to his death or prove that guys like him can have a happily ever after?

Excerpt from Made by A.J. Norris

Uh!

A warm hand clamped over her mouth and an arm went around her waist from behind.

“Don’t move,” Elmo growled in her ear, yanking her backward so she was pressed against his body. “Who are you?”

“No one,” she said, but with his hand covering her mouth the words sounded muffled. Her heart pounded.

“I don’t believe you.” Elmo marched her into the villa and sat her in the living room chair. “Stay put.” He closed and locked the doors, then sat on the ottoman parked in front of her. “I’m going to ask you again. Who are you? And don’t lie to me, because I’m not in the mood for bullshit.”

“Daisy. I wasn’t lying about that.”Guys like me don_t get ahappily ever after.”

“Why are you sneaking around in the dark?” He narrowed his stare. “Who’s paying you?”

“No one. I was curious about you.” Well, that was half true.

“You expect me to believe that?”

“Y-Yes. It’s the truth.” She buried her face in her hands.

“What’s the job?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I was worried about you.”

He exhaled and glanced at the ceiling. “Have you told them anything?”

“Told who what?”

“Where I am. Kilpatrick’s men. How long have you been watching me?”

“I haven’t been watching you, I swear it. I came by to tell you that you left your flip-flops at the bar.” She said the first thing that popped into her head.

“Okay, so you thought sneaking up on me at night to tell me this was a good idea?”

“Not anymore.”

“Well, all right, you’re here now, so give me the shoes.” She bit her bottom lip. “Um…”

“You don’t have them, do you? What’s the real reason you’re here?” Elmo smoothed his hair back with his fingers, groaning under his breath. He mumbled something that sounded like why did you have to be so beautiful?

“What did you say?”

“My father always told me a beautiful woman would lead to my death one day.”

He thinks I’m beautiful? This was probably not the most important part of that sentence. Except it was all she was focusing on at the moment.

“So why are you here if it’s not the shoes or a job?”

What was she supposed to say? Hey, I just wanted to know more about you before I signed your death certificate. Not stalking you or anything. “I forgot them?” she eked out.

“Is that a question?”

“No?” She squirmed in her seat.

He snort-chuckled without humor. “Your cover story isn’t well thought out, is it?”

“It’s not a story, I swea—”

“Yeah, I got it, you swear. Listen, can you at least give me a head start?”

“I’m telling you the truth on my mother’s life.” Okay, blatant lie. Sorry, Mom. Her mother passed away two years ago.

“Well, in that case…how long she been dead?”

“She’s not. I wanted to see you, all right?”

“Why? What turned you on, was it my excessive drinking?”

Daisy smiled. “You’re not drunk now. I thought you looked sad when I found you on the beach and I wondered why. Maybe I can cheer—”

“Believe me, Daisy, I’m not someone you need to be cheering up. You don’t know me.” He rubbed the back of his neck and left shoulder.

“I can help you with that.” She stood and inched out from between the chair and ottoman.

“Hey. What’re you doing?” His body tensed when she placed her hands on his shoulders from behind and started massaging.

“Oh, God, that feels…” he breathed. He grabbed one of her wrists. “This isn’t a good—”

“Shhh. It’s only a massage.” What was she doing? There were a million reasons why this was a bad idea. In fact, she couldn’t think of one good reason it wasn’t. If she lay with him one or both of them would end up shot in the head. And she wasn’t so sure if she would die by his hand or one of Kilpatrick’s goons.

Author Spotlight: Kenadee Bryant

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000447_00006]

Crave author Kenadee Bryant is here today so we get to know her better. She has a story featured in the brand anthology from Crave Publishing, LLC, Craving: One Night.

Do you consider being a writer a gift or a curse? Being a writer can be a gift and a curse. A gift because you literally create a whole new world for someone to get lost in. You hold the power for your readers. But it can be a curse. No matter what time of day you will be struck with inspiration, or no matter how many stories you already have half written your mind will come up with a new idea. Your mind will always be on overdrive coming up with plots, characters etc.

Do you Google yourself? I have googled myself 😀 I got so curious to see what would come up and was surprisingly shocked to see I actually had a google page that had all my stories and that I am now an Author. I think everyone has googled themselves at least once in their lives. Now that my stuff is published it is a lot cooler to google.

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones? When my first story came out I was so excited to read the reviews, and when I read my first bad review I almost started crying. I had put so much effort into being published that it hurt. For a while I stopped reading my reviews because I couldnt handle it, even the good ones. But now I have realized that reading the reviews, good or bad, just pushes you to do better. Take the bad ones in stride and work that much harder to do better. There will always be someone out there that hates what you do and that will never be happy. As long as a few people like your stuff don’t worry about the rest. One Night-Teaser #4

What’s the sexiest accent? In my opinion I love British Accents. They are just so sexy and posh. I do love Australian or even Irish accents but British takes the cake for me.

Do you prefer reading traditional paperback/hard cover books or ebooks? Why? I honestly prefer paperback/hardcover books. There is something that I love about holding an actual copy of a book. I do have a kindle and I will read from it but I definitely prefer paperback copies instead.

Do you chose the genre you write in or did it choose you? I like to believe the Romance genre picked me. Right from the beginning I was writing romance stories before I really knew about the genre. I remember my first story was a teenfic filled with cheesy love scenes. Lately I have tried to move out of that genre and do something else but I find myself coming back to it time and time again.

What are your favorite types of characters to write? My favorite types are the bad boy/boy next door, and the hot millionaire playboy. Who doesnt love a good bad boy or a millionaire that7110ctTVeFL._UX250_ falls in love with the girl from next door. Those are always fun to write.

Rapid Fire…with Kenadee…

Tea or coffee? Coffee, unless its sweet tea.

Paperback/Hardcover or ebook? Hardback

Vampire or shifter? Shifter. Because you can shift into anything you want and you can still eventually die, unlike a vampire.

Cop or fireman? Fireman. I mean have you seen firemen? 😉

Snow or sunny skies? Sunny Skies.

Beach or mountain ski resort? Beach all the way.

Coke or Pepsi? CokeI dont drink soda often enough to know which one is better.

HEA or a more realistic ending? Happily Ever After of course!

Chick flick or action movie? Chick Flick, you can watch them more often than action. Unless its Marvel 😀

City or country? Country.

More beautiful: Sunset or sunrise? Sunset. Where I live we have the most beautiful sunsets.

Car or plane? Plane.

iPhone or Android? iPhone.

Mac or PC? Mac all the way.

Kindle or Nook? Kindle.

Listen to audiobook or read? Read. For some reason I cant get into audiobooks.

Ocean/Lake or pool? Ocean/Lake.

Five on Friday: Interview with Author G.M. House

RECEIVE A FREE EBOOK, CRAVING_ MAYHEMCrave author G.M. House joins us for a quick 5 question interview. Her story is featured in our Craving One Night anthology.

  1. Do you Google yourself?

*Laughs* Yes, I have and it was no surprise that G.M. and House pulled separate items. My sir name, House, pulls up three companies that draw house plans. G.M., of course, pulls up General Motors. I’ve been told many times over, that my name is rather masculine and it is fun to play that up every once in a while. So, it was no surprise that my Google search turned up masculine things.

  1. Do you prefer reading traditional paperback/hard cover books or ebooks? Why?

I prefer traditional paperbacks or hard cover. My all-time favorite book “Pride and Prejudice” is a hard cover, that shows its age/usage and I absolutely love that. It has been a well-loved classic. Plus, I’m a proud member of the book sniffers club and ebook does not offer the same experience for me as a traditional book. The smell of a book only adds to the journey while I read. However, for organizational reasons I can see why ebooks are popular.

  1. How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

Ironically, two characters I did not see publishing, are getting published and first of all things. They were a half-baked idea. Aside from that, I have two unpublished books, one of which is three quarters of the way completed, and three proposal stories that I might breathe life into down the road. The hoard of napkins and notepads that have notes jotted down on them, tell a different narrative on my half-finished unpublished works.

  1. What is the sexiest accent?

Hmm…that is a tough one. I’d say Scottish hands down. With the exception of Humphrey Bogart or Sean Connery. Wait…I could honestly, listen to Gerard Butler talk all day.

  1. Do you consider being a writer a gift or a curse?

It is a double edged sword. On one hand, it is amazing to sit down, pen a swoon worthy story for the readers to enjoy and give them a relatable experience. On the other hand, I do not fit into the status quo, because I see life in a more creative manner and some feel awkward around me since I’m not in the same box.

G.M. House also provided us with an in depth look into her story One Night with a Boss from Craving: One Night

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000447_00006]“Hi, Ian Thompson here with my favorite author in the universe, G… G.M. House. We’re here today to give you a deeper look into One Night with a Boss. Isn’t that right G?”

“Please don’t call me G, we’ve talked about this. Yes, I’m excited that you could join me in giving this review.” For those of you who haven’t met Ian, let me introduce you. He will quickly become your favorite douchebag. “Ian, meet the readers, readers met Ian.”

“Thanks, G. I know I’m your favorite douchebag,” winks flirtatiously at me. Waves at the readers. “Nice to meet you all.”

“You really are my favorite,” I reach out and pat his arm. “Where should we begin?”

“Tell them how I got my start in the graphics scene,”

“That’s a good starting point.” Ian comes from a middle class family, both parents work, and he has always admired his dad’s drive in the work world. After Ian graduate’s college with a degree in graphic design, he gets a job with a small local firm. A major client books a consult, the firm being extremely short staffed at the time throws rookie Ian in the lead role for the meeting and this move sets him on the path to douchebag status. Ian, of course, lands this client and catapults his firm into new territory with the two-million-dollar advertising deal. Keep in mind, Ian beat competitor Brooks Design Graphics out of this deal. When a job opening comes up at Brooks, Ian arrogantly fills out an application for fun. Not really expecting anything to come of it.

“I told the client my boss was an asshat, that’s how I landed the deal.”

I cut my eyes over to him, “Ian!”

“Well, I did, G,” he reaches up, pretends to zip his lips, locks them and throws away the key.

“I know you did.” Anyways, that’s how we end up where the story starts.

“So, what is the inspiration behind my story?”

“Your story?”

“Fine, the story overall,” he rolls his eyes.

I had an obsession at the time with the names Ian and Ryley. I knew somehow I had to have characters with those names, but they could not be any characters. These two would be equals, somehow Ian and Ryley would be a match on every level except for power. In the real world I’m a rather powerful lady, so I thought it would be fun to echo that into a female character and have the male character be attracted to a powerful woman. What started as a fun idea, ended up becoming a fun, sexy, short story about one night and I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

“Trust me G, they will enjoy it,” he wags his eyebrows at me.

“Behave yourself.”

“Yes ma’am,” he pauses, “Do you plan on giving me my own book one day?”

Smiles “You know, you’re a lot to handle Ian. I’m not sure, I, or anyone can handle a full length story with your douchebaggery.”

He chuckles, “Com’on G, you know they want more of all this!” he runs his hands over his torso seductively.

“See what I’m talking about?” One day perhaps I will give this short story a full length book, guess it depends on how demanding Ian gets.

“Don’t make me pull out the big douchebag guns G, because I will!”

Throws hands up in surrender, “Please don’t,” I beg.

“Fine, you’re safe this time, but next time I might tie you up… or maybe one of your readers would like for me to tie her up?”

“Sir Douche…” takes a breath, “Never mind, I’m sure a lucky lady would love to be tied up by you,” I smile wide at him. “Moving on. Why don’t you explain the douchebag title Ian?”

“I’d love to. So, G has this long standing joke about a guy in white Oakley shades. He is instantly a douchebag. Maybe not, maybe he’s a pansy in a pair of shades his mom bought him because they were cool,” he chuckles. “Let me define G’s definition of douchebag, A guy who typically gets what he wants, knows it all, drives a stunning vehicle, usually well-groomed and good looking. The shades are a symbol, if you will, that said guy, in this case me, is a get what he wants kind of male. Which I am a get what I want kind of guy. The job I want, got it. The woman that… I’ll stop there with that one. Well-groomed and I’m fine as hell. Jacked up truck. See I tick all the boxes and I also have a pair of white Oakley’s as the icing on the cake. Did I cover it G?”

“Yeah, you nailed it.”

“I forgot to mention that my favorite author looks damn good in her douchebag shades.”

Instantly my cheeks heat, “Thanks Ian,” embarrassment in my voice.

“You’re welcome G.”

“Oaky Ian I think that about finishes our time here with all the readers.”

“G, come on, they want more.”

Giggles “They will have to read the story to get more.”

“Fine.” He rolls his eyes.

Thank you all for joining Ian and I today. I hope you will enjoy “One Night with a Boss”.

In Depth with…Author Elizabeth Roderick #amreading #romance @cravepub

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000447_00006]
Available with KU
Crave author Elizabeth Roderick stopped by today to give us a deeper look into her story Beautiful Music featured in our new anthology.

I wrote Beautiful Music when I was in a romantic slump and needed something to make my heart lighter. It worked!

The story is about Nicole Vetterman, a successful, thirty-something musician and songwriter who is starting to come to terms that she’s aging in a business that doesn’t allow for women to age gracefully without a fight. Outwardly, she’s doing great: she recently won a Grammy, she’s working on a new album. But she’s recently lost a long-term partner and is wondering if her love life is over forever.

Then she meets Ibrahim. He’s an extremely talented (and VERY sexy) electronic dance music artist. He’s kind and has an infectious smile …she can’t help but fall in love with him, even though they’ve only spent one memorable night together. There’s a hitch, though: he’s nine years younger than her.

Despite how much she wants to pursue something more meaningful with him, she’s plagued by self-doubt. He must be using her for her industry connections, because how can he be attracted to an old woman like her? She feels like everyone else must be laughing at her behind her back, and that she’s deluding herself thinking she could be worthy of his love.

I know Nicole’s struggle well. I’m in a relationship with a younger man, and it took me a lot of effort to train myself out of that self-doubt. Writing this story was part of that training.

Life is so much better if you allow yourself to see your own value and let yourself be happy. We all are beautiful and worthy of love. Give that love, accept it, rejoice in it!

Let’s get know Elizabeth a little better…Elizabeth Roderick

Do you consider being a writer a gift or a curse?

A little of both, honestly. Being a writer gives my life meaning in a way few other things do. It’s a way to create worlds where mysteries are solved, love wins, and the antagonists always learn their lesson. I can create beauty, and make the real world a little more beautiful in the process.

But it also keeps me up at night and keeps me fairly poor 😀

What’s something you are really good at that only a few people know about?

I studied ethnobotany in college, and I make a lot of my own medicines and cosmetics out of herbs. I’m also a musician, with two albums of original music…I wish more than a few people knew about that.

What is the best compliment you have received about your writing?

An Amazon reviewer said that The Other Place is “Beautiful beyond words”. I’ll take it!

How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

I currently have eleven finished books on my backlist. None of them are shelved – I’m just slow at pitching them. I have two works in progress, plus a memoir that is mostly done but needs arranged. I have two more half-finished books that I’m not sure I’ll ever go back to.

Do you Google yourself?

I haven’t in a long time! Now I’m inspired to do so.

What is your favorite childhood book?

The Lord of the Rings series!

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?

I do – but I don’t take either bad or good ones to heart. They’re opinions, which can vary widely.

What one thing would you give up to become a better writer?

I already give up plenty of time and hope of easier income in order to chase the dream of writing stories so perfect they never let me go. I’d give up even more if it meant I could be a better paid author.

Is there one subject you would never write about as an author? What is it?

Probably slavery.

What’s the sexiest accent?

Oooh, good question. I love any accent, but I’d probably go with Scottish.

What is your favorite romance sub-genre to write and read?

Probably regency – but I don’t trust my research enough to write it myself.

Do you prefer reading traditional paperback/hard cover books or ebooks? Why?

I prefer reading traditional books, but I prefer owning ebooks. I live in a tiny house (250 square feet). I had to get rid of so many books!

Do you have a day job? If so, what do you do?

Yes, although I’m self-employed. I help run a small farm (we grow and sell fruit, veggies, eggs, and honey, as well as nursery products and some crafts). I’m also a freelance editor.

Do you chose the genre you write in or did it choose you?

I write soooo many genres. They always choose me.

What are your favorite types of characters to write?

Quirky ones. I enjoy writing about weirdos, because I truly am one.

In Depth with Author Jessica Calla: Craving One Night #amreading #newrelease #romance #giveaway

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000447_00006]Author Jessica Calla stopped by to give us an in depth look into her story The One She left Behind featured in the Craving One Night anthology.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about time. Time seems to creep along, but then in a flash, it’s gone. Even though we lose all those precious moments, it’s fascinating to me to think about the things we remember and hold on to, that can take us right back to a particular moment, like a time machine.

I love second chance romances. For Ashley and Anthony, I wanted to write a story that showed the two of them being inseparable as kids, then letting each other go. Twenty years later, they meet up at their high school reunion, after having been married to other people and living their own lives. Still though, they always held each other close in their hearts. As soon as they see each other at the reunion, the memories invade and take them back twenty years to when they said goodbye.

For Anthony and Ashley’s journey, I wanted to explore the idea of “the right love at the
wrong time,” (yes, those are Barry Manilow lyrics—Google Somewhere Down the Road
and don’t judge!) with a little twist. Even though they were separated for twenty years,
their love story played out exactly the way it was supposed to. So for Anthony and
Ashley, the song lyrics would be: “the right love in the right time.”
I hope you enjoy the story.

Excerpt from The One She Left Behind

Anthony had followed her career, searching her name every day for the past twenty years. Her talent for photography had been obvious from the day they got their first phones, then the day she got her first real camera. He had no doubt that she’d make her life into whatever she wanted. I’m going to use this camera to see the world, she used toAnthony Bello looked down at her with his sexy, a little-too-big-for-his-face, grin. Damn, those full, soft lips. In twenty years she hadn_t found a more kissable subject than Anthony say. It’s my passport out of here.

Not him. He loved his town and the people in it so much that he’d never left. He’d been hired by the Cliffville Board of Education the day he graduated college with his Physical Education degree, and spent the past fifteen years as a gym teacher roaming the halls where he and Ashley had grown up. He knew everyone, everything, about the North Jersey suburb, and he was happy that Kelsey would grow up the same way he did.

Ashley, though, was never meant to be tied down. The day Wally walked into homeroom,
Ashley blushed at the sight of him. When he told the class about California and his love of travel, Anthony knew she’d found another ticket out.

“Peru? Wow.” Then, thinking out loud, he said, “I can’t imagine.”

No matter how perfect she felt in his arms, he couldn’t compete with Peru, or baby elephants, or whatever else she’d experienced in her life. Instead of getting into it, he winked at her. “But we’re both here now. How about that?”

“How about that,” she repeated.

When she smiled, he relaxed again, and moved his mouth close to her ear. “Never thought I’d see you back in Cliffville.”

“I heard there was an open bar so…”

He laughed, and suddenly the twenty years they’d been apart felt like only two minutes. “Oh, but even without the open bar, it’s paradise. I know you’ve traveled the world, seen our entire planet. But Cliffville, New Jersey is where all the action is at.”

“Ha.” Ashley snorted. “It’s nice to imagine loving a place so much that you want to stay.”
Anthony gave her hand a squeeze. “It’s nice to imagine being brave enough to leave too.”
They spent the rest of the night on the dance floor, oblivious to the rest of the Class of ’98.
She felt like heaven in his arms. It had been a long time since he’d been with a woman, and Ashley wasn’t just any woman. She was Ashley. His Ash.

The One She Left Behind-2He didn’t want to let her go when the band finished their last song and the dance floor cleared, so Anthony said the same word he’d said to her twenty years earlier, the day she’d left Cliffville: “Stay.”

Interview with Author Jessica Calla

Is there one subject you would never write about as an author? What is it?
I get really creeped out by… (I almost can’t even type it)… sexy fireman books. My dad was a fireman, and I’ve been around firehouses all my life, and … just no. Can I stop at that?

What’s the sexiest accent?
Definitely Italian! My husband’s family is from Italy and I love hearing them talk.
Italian has such a beautiful flow. Even the curse words sound pretty.

What is your favorite romance sub-genre to write and read?
I love reading contemporary city romances, I think because I grew up in a suburb
of New York City. But every once in a while, I get the urge to read a sweet, small
town country romance, usually with cowboys. Reading about ranchers and
rodeos does something for me. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, switching to a
small-town romance resets me somehow. Would I ever want to live on a ranch?
Big no. Although I rode a horse once, in Alaska on my honeymoon! I was scared
to death and cried to get off.

Do you prefer reading traditional paperback/hard cover books or ebooks? Why?
For fiction, I love-love-love my Kindle Paperwhite. I prefer the Kindle itself to the
Kindle app, so I don’t get distracted by everything else on the phone, and focus
only on reading. Often, I read while pacing my house to get my steps in for my
daily Fitbit count. Reading makes the daily trek to 10,000 steps fly by! For non-
fiction, though, I prefer a hard copy. I like to make notes in the margins, highlight,
and be able to flip through the pages.

Do you have a day job? If so, what do you do?
I’m a lawyer by day, working for a government agency for the State of New
Jersey. Fun fact: I met my husband in law school. He sat in front of me as a 1L. I
didn’t know his first name for six months (the professors called us all by our last
names), but he had long hair and wore Doc Martens so I was smitten.

Rapid Fire…

Tea or coffee? Coffee, black and strong!
Paperback/Hardcover or ebook? Ebook for fiction, Paperback for non-fiction
Vampire or shifter? Vampire #TeamEdward #TeamDamon
Cop or fireman? Cop! My dad was a fireman so that’s just creepy to me.
Snow or sunny skies? SUN
Beach or mountain ski resort? BEACH
Coke or Pepsi? COKE (Please is this even a real question?)
HEA or a more realistic ending? HEAs or make me cry. Realistic, meh.
Chick flick or action movie? Chick Flick
City or country? City
More beautiful: Sunset or sunrise? Sunset!
Car or plane? Car
iPhone or Android? iPhone. Apple everything in my house!
Mac or PC? See above: MAC
Kindle or Nook? Kindle (Paperwhite)
Listen to audiobook or read? Read. I lose focus when listening to books.
Ocean/Lake or pool? Ocean.
Eggs or pancakes? I CANNOT DECIDE DON’T MAKE ME.
Shower or bath? Shower. Bath? Ick.

Cable or satellite? As much as I hate to say it, Cable. Don’t get me started.
Handwrite or type? Type.
Introvert or extrovert? Introvert.
Morning person or night owl? Night owl.
