Bad Blood by Olivia Night

Vera blinked her eyes. She blinked again. Dark. Black. Empty. She saw nothing. Moving her hand around, she felt carpet beneath her. What the fuck had happened? And then the throbbing ache in her head made itself known. She reached up to touch the area and her hand came away wet. Shit. She hissed as she found an open wound.

Using the wall directly behind her, she pushed her way into a standing position.

Suddenly a door directly across from her was thrown open and blinding light seared into her eyes.

Her blurry vision took in the behemoth of a man in front of her.

She’d daydreamed a lot over the last ten years about what he would grow to be. Her protector, her best friend. But never, in her best dreams, hashe envisioned the man before her. He towered well over six feet and his body was stacked with muscles. His booted feet gave way to massive thighs that any girl would love to run her hands over. He wore jeans and a plain back tshirt that was loose, but did nothing to hide the fact that his chest and abs were most likely equally impressive, if not more. His biceps tested the strength of the cotton, and she watched as he crossed his tattooed arms, making them stand at attention. He wore a black leather cut over the shirt, and nothing else. The simplicity of it made it somehow incredibly masculine. Reluctantly her gaze moved to his face. Dark brown eyes stared down at her. He had several days stubble on his face that emphasized the hard angles of his jaw and cheekbones. He was gorgeous. He was a walking orgasm.

But he was also trouble. Because standing before her was Rider Hawkins. The President of Satan’s Sentinels. They were murderers. Every single one of them.

Fuck.

Author Olivia Night stopped by to give us that awesome excerpt and to answer a few questions…

Do you consider being a writer a gift or a curse?

I think it’s a little of both. There are times when the words flow right off my fingertips and I love the world that my brain has created and then there are other times when I have this world up in my head and I can’t seem to get it out. That can be really frustrating. It can also be super frustrating when you have this great idea and aren’t able to stop and write it down so it sits there taunting you for hours.

What is your most favorite line you’ve ever written and why?

The last line in my first series (spoiler alert, it’s an HEA.) I had grown so attached to the characters that I had been writing about for several years (before I took a deep breath and submitted them for publication) and so when it was done I was sad to move on.

Sarah looked down from her place on the deck at the three men who were surrounded by their laughing children and grinned. Logan glanced back to Sarah, his eyes soft, before he allowed all of the kids to pull him in the direction of their tree house.

Full of life. All of them.

And as life did, it continued on.

How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

I have seven. They are all in various forms. Some are nearly complete and I am waiting for the characters to tell me how their story ends, some are just little seeds with only a few paragraphs and some are complete outlines that have yet to move beyond that form.

What is your favorite childhood book?

Definitely Anne of Green Gables. I love her spunk and the way she views the world. I try to experience things with a lens of awe like Anne.

 What’s the sexiest accent?

I know it’s not a super popular opinion, but I love the Boston accent on men. There’s something gritty about it.

Did you chose the genre you write in or did it choose you?

It chose me. I was a nanny during college and worked crazy hours. Like, get there at six in the morning, get the kids ready for school etc., go to my own classes and then back to pick the kids up and I was usually there until around eleven in the evening. During the summer months when I had a bit more time I noticed the mother had a bookshelf full of an author, Suzanne Brockmann, and my love of both romance and romantic suspense was born.

ABOUT OLIVIA NIGHT

Olivia Night, a fictional character herself, has always been an avid reader and writer. She found the romance genre in college and has never been able to get enough. One sleepless night, the main characters of Book One in her Men of FTI  eries sprang from her head fully formed. They demanded she tell their story; so she did. As they revealed themselves, so did two other intriguing characters. Those characters convinced her to give them their own books because their stories were worth telling too. And so Olivia suddenly became a romance author. When Olivia is not writing, she has the best job in the world, which, too, will remain a secret. In her free time, she reads, write, drinks wine, or is, most likely, out emulating Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Olivia lives in one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the U.S.—Baltimore. She lives with her cat, whom she is convinced was a gladiator in his past life. Olivia plans to continue being awesome at this thing called life. Really, that’s her only goal.
